Bio-diversity in Santuarie

Chapramari

 The area of this sanctuary is 9.60 sq. km. and 70 km.  away from Jalpaiguri town. One can get a close view of  wildlife, in a glade from the beautiful resthouse inside the  sanctuary. Permission for day visit may be received from  the Lataguri interpretation centre. Hired vehicle to reach  Chapramari is available from Chalsa. It provides a  breathtaking view of forests against the  backdrop of the  Kanchanjangha and other peaks

Major Flora : Predominant Sal mixed forest Lali, Chilaune,  Kanchanan,  Bahera, Kawla Dilenia, Mallotus

 Major Fauna : Elephant, Gaur, Leopard, Sambar, Barking Deer,  Rhesus  and Assamese macaque, Hornbill, Lesser Adjutant Stork

Jaldapara

This sanctuary is famous for Great Indian One Horned  Rhino. The total area of this forest is 216.51 sq. km.  Jaldapara is situated near Alipurduar sub-divisional town  of  Jalpaiguri district . Elephant riding is one of the major  attraction of this sanctuary. 

Major Flora : Tarai grass land, Riverine forest, Sal  forests,  Simul, Khair, Sisoo, Sidha, Gamar,  Mallotus,Kawla,Dilenia, Ficus.

 Major Fauna : Great indian one horned rhino, Tiger,  Gaur,  Elephant, Badger, Leopard, Sloth Bear Otter,  Bengal  florican , King cobra.

Buxa

This sanctuary is popularly known as Buxa Tiger Reserve  with its area of 368.99 sq. km. This tiger reserve is  located near Alipurduar sub-divisional town of Jalpaiguri  district.

 Major Flora :Sal, Simul, Siris, Khair, Champ, Sidha,  Toon, Lali, Lampate, Mandane, Katus, Teak, Orchids.

 Major Fauna : Elephant, Leopard, Gaur, Spotted Dear,  Sambar, jungle cat, Fishing cat, Birds.
